Works on Paper: Ritual Anatomy
Ritual Anatomy is a collection of paintings on paper where the human body and some of its parts in particular are worked in a symbolic dimension, expressing their relationship with emotion and the experiences that permeate a living body. The materialistic or strictly scientific view of the body—scanned, x-rayed, chemically analyzed, and with a high demand for "performance"—has distanced us from the intuitive perception of the human body and its language. In the body, which is especially receptive to feeling and emotion, these permeate the organs, muscles, bones, etc., and if we pay some attention to the warnings, we can perceive the knots that are woven with such tension that they no longer flow harmoniously, with each emotion that hardens the chest, tightens a jaw, locks a throat, aches in a contracted stomach, or weighs down shoulders. Our bodies are our territory and the dwelling place of our psyche. Each organ seems to have its function linked to the emotionality of each individual. The working process in this collection constitutes an act of inquiry and discovery, where each part represented managed to "speak" and - although I didn't expect it - release knots and pain, it must be said.
